When BSI wanted to develop a Standard for the validation of AI in healthcare in 2021 we were well placed to support the BSI Committee that formed around the standard. This BSI Committee consisted of the MHRA, NICE, NHS, Academics, Sector Leads and AI Healthcare Suppliers.

It became apparent during BSI 30440 Committee work that there was 'data science black hole' within existing healthcare standards. They specifically did not address AI in healthcare. This black hole is illustrated in the graphic below.
In this graphic the term 'Model Statement' is referenced. This is an uncommon term. Our language for this term is a 'Model Label'. Examples of these are shown here. For illustrative purposes some of our Model Labels are referred to in BS 30440 as examples for sections of the standard.
