MODERN SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING STATEMENT

Introduction
This statement is published voluntarily by CarefulAI in recognition of our commitment to ethical business practice and the eradication of modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms. Although CarefulAI's annual turnover is below the £36 million threshold that triggers a mandatory statement under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we fully subscribe to the principles and spirit of the Act and believe that responsible businesses of all sizes have a role to play in tackling these issues.

Our Organisation, Business and Supply Chains
CarefulAI is a UK-based artificial intelligence company. We provide AI-powered products and professional services to organisations operating in regulated markets, including but not limited to healthcare, financial services, legal, and the public sector. We work with our customers to support the responsible, safe, and governed adoption of AI technology to improve outcomes, efficiency, and decision-making.
Our supply chain reflects the nature of our business as a technology and professional services company. It principally comprises:
  • Cloud infrastructure, software, and platform providers;
  • AI technology vendors, data partners, and development partners;
  • Professional services providers including legal, financial, and advisory firms.
The majority of our suppliers and partners are established organisations operating in the UK, EU, or North America — jurisdictions considered to carry a relatively low inherent risk of modern slavery. We do not manufacture physical goods or engage in labour-intensive supply chains.

Our Commitment and Policy
CarefulAI has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking in any form. We are committed to acting with integrity and transparency in all our business dealings and to ensuring that slavery and human trafficking have no place in our business or supply chains.
Our commitments include:
  • We will not engage in, facilitate, or knowingly tolerate any form of forced, bonded, or involuntary labour;
  • All individuals working with or for CarefulAI do so freely and voluntarily, and are free to leave upon reasonable notice;
  • We do not withhold identity documents or deposits from workers or contractors;
  • We expect the same ethical standards of all suppliers, partners, and subcontractors we engage.
These principles are embedded in our supplier agreements and business relationships, and are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain effective and current.

Due Diligence
CarefulAI operates proportionate due diligence processes designed to identify and address modern slavery risks across our business and supply chain. These include:
  • Assessing new suppliers and partners before engagement, with consideration given to their operating locations, sector, and any known ethical risk factors;
  • Incorporating anti-slavery and human trafficking provisions into contracts with all suppliers and subcontractors;
  • Maintaining records sufficient to trace the supply chain for goods and services we procure and deliver;
  • Responding promptly and accurately to modern slavery due diligence requests from customers, commissioners, regulators, and public and private sector partners across all markets in which we operate.

Risk Assessment
We recognise that no organisation is entirely free from modern slavery risk, and we take our responsibility to assess and manage that risk seriously. CarefulAI has assessed its operations and supply chain and considers its overall exposure to be low, given:
  • Our operations are based in the UK and focused on knowledge-based technology and professional services;
  • We do not operate in sectors or geographies considered high risk for labour exploitation;
  • Our supplier base is predominantly comprised of regulated, reputable technology companies.
The areas where we remain most vigilant are those further down the technology supply chain — including hardware manufacturing, data processing, and compute infrastructure — where global supply chains can be complex and less transparent. We mitigate this risk by:
  • Selecting partners and vendors with their own published ethical commitments and modern slavery policies;
  • Monitoring developments in supply chain risk across the sectors and geographies in which we and our partners operate;
  • Staying informed of evolving best practice and statutory guidance.

Effectiveness
We measure our effectiveness in addressing modern slavery risks through the following indicators:
  • All active supplier and subcontractor agreements contain appropriate anti-slavery provisions;
  • No instances of modern slavery identified, suspected, or reported within our business or supply chain;
  • Annual review and update of this statement and our associated policies;
  • Maintained awareness across our team of modern slavery risks and reporting routes.
To date, CarefulAI has not identified any instance of modern slavery or human trafficking within its business or supply chain.

Training and Awareness
CarefulAI is committed to ensuring that all members of our team understand the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking and know how to act if a concern arises. We achieve this through:
  • Ensuring all team members read and are familiar with this statement and our associated policies as part of their onboarding;
  • Providing modern slavery awareness training to all staff, refreshed annually;
  • Maintaining clear and accessible internal reporting routes for anyone who suspects modern slavery in our business or supply chain.
Any concern relating to modern slavery will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and — where appropriate — reported to the Modern Slavery Helpline (available at modernslaveryhelpline.org or by calling 08000 121 700) and to any relevant statutory authorities.

Reporting Concerns
If you have a concern about modern slavery in connection with CarefulAI or any of our partners or suppliers, please contact us at [email protected] or via our website using the feedback form provided. All reports will be treated confidentially and investigated thoroughly.
