Role Overview
We're seeking an experienced GenAI Application Engineer to design, build, and deploy production-ready generative AI applications. In this role, you'll work at the intersection of software engineering and AI, focusing on creating robust systems that leverage large language models (LLMs) like OpenAI's GPT models and Anthropic's Claude.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable generative AI applications using modern LLMs (OpenAI, Claude) with Python
- Build robust application integration frameworks focusing on observability, monitoring, and security
- Develop and maintain containerized applications using Docker in AWS environments
- Create retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems with appropriate vector databases
- Implement prompt engineering best practices and effective guardrails for LLM applications
- Develop automated testing frameworks for AI applications, including performance evaluation, edge case detection, and red teaming
- Collaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Monitor and optimize application performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Stay current with rapidly evolving GenAI technologies and incorporate new capabilities
- Document architectural decisions, system designs, and operational procedures

Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with Python
- Strong knowledge of AWS services (Lambda, ECS, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, etc.)
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, container orchestration)
- Understanding of LLM integration patterns and generative AI application architectures
- Experience with REST APIs and API management
- Knowledge of observability tools, logging, and monitoring systems
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar LLM frameworks
- Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, etc.)
- Experience with prompt engineering techniques and evaluation metrics
- Understanding of security concerns in AI applications
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Prior experience working with OpenAI API, Claude API, or other commercial LLMs
- Background in implementing RAG systems or agentic workflows

Salary & Benefits
Salary Range: £70,000 - £95,000 per annum (depending on experience)
